We are pleased to share that the Hon’ble Supreme Court has issued notice in an arbitration petition filed on behalf of our client, Jiostar India Pvt. Ltd., in a dispute concerning the sub-licensing of Indian Premier League (IPL) media rights for the territory of Bangladesh.

The petition seeks the appointment of a sole arbitrator under Sections 11(5), 11(6), 11(9) and 11(12)(a) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, arising out of a Media Rights Sub-License Agreement dated March 30, 2023, executed between Jiostar India Pvt. Ltd. and UAE-based Green Bean Sports Marketing for IPL seasons 2023–2027. The dispute relates to alleged defaults and outstanding contractual obligations under the agreement, following which Jiostar invoked the arbitration clause and sought the constitution of an arbitral tribunal.

A Bench comprising the Hon’ble Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi issued notice in the matter and listed the case for further hearing on May 15, 2026.
