We are happy to announce that Ahaan Mohan, Partner, Aretha Legal, successfully represented Unilever before the Karnataka High Court in a criminal matter concerning the alleged sale of contaminated biscuits.

The matter was led by Mr. Dhyan Chinnappa, Senior Advocate, and the legal team also included Rudransh Dutta, Associate, Aretha Legal, working alongside Ahaan Mohan.

The Hon’ble High Court quashed the criminal proceedings initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, against the CEO and other senior officials of HUL. The Court held that in the absence of specific averments linking the top management to the alleged offence, vicarious liability could not be fastened. This decision reinforces crucial safeguards against arbitrary prosecution of corporate executives.
